All our sessions are held in the Parish Rooms,
Appleton Roebuck. These familiar surroundings ensure the children
can feel happy and secure in their play and eases the transition
from toddler group, with their parent/carer, to pre-school then on
to the additional sessions at school.
Each session is set up separately and tidied away
afterwards ensuring toys and equipment are alternated regularly,
holding the children's attention.
There are two toilets with a
wash basin and children are encouraged to use the toilets and wash
their hands afterwards.
We have use of the kitchen and although the
children are not allowed in this area it does allow us to bake
regularly.
The Parish Rooms are surrounded by secured paved
and grassed areas and, weather permitting, this enables the children
the freedom of outdoors play with some larger toys. They can also
explore and gain knowledge of nature. We often plan walks around the
village (with the parent’s consent) to enhance the local
knowledge of the children.
Our equipment includes a baby activity gym,
activity centres, sorting and soft toys for the very youngest.
There is a wide range of books, including a
selection of library books which are changed regularly. We have
paints, pencils, crayons and paper to allow children the freedom to
“make their mark” in as many ways as possible.
Construction toys and jigsaws are also regularly used and there is
equipment for sand & water play.
Make-believe play is encouraged with toy
vehicles, farm and dolls as well as the dressing up box, play house,
work bench and kitchen centre for free play.
Toys such as tricycles, and other ride-on toys,
trampoline and slide encourage the development of motor skills.
We have child-sized play panels, tables and
chairs to keep activities & toys at a child’s eye level
