In Appleton Roebuck we have an active partnership
with the local primary school, providing five sessions a week of
pre-school education for four year olds.At our pre-school sessions, the emphasis is on learning through play rather than by formal teaching.
Together, we have put the interests of children
first to provide the best start possible for them.
We provide the five morning sessions for children from the term
after their 4th birthday until the January of the school year in
which they are 5, when they would normally start full-time at school.
A pre-school supervisor will be with the children on some of their
days in school, working with the Class 1 teacher.
The Government has set out six goals to prepare 4 year olds for
the National Curriculum in Year 1 at school. These emphasise early
language & literacy, mathematics, the development of personal
and social skills, and contribute to children's knowledge &
understanding of the world as well as creative and physical skills.
They provide a foundation for later achievement. We work in close
liaison to achieve all these outcomes through play. Quality is ensured
by the involvement of qualified early years teaching staff as well
as by independent Ofsted examinations
The termly plan of activities is displayed on the
Notice Board in the Parish Rooms, so parents are aware of and can
support the activities at home.
